Learn how to spot Cold Calls

While you cannot put an end to cold calls, you can take measures to note them.

1. High-pressuring sell reps deserve a big fat NO. If the business is legit, they respect your wishes to decline their offers.

2. If you do not want a telemarketer or business calling you, tell them so. If the telemarketer calls you back, this is a crime. Hang-up the phone and report them at the FTC center.

3. When presented with sale opportunities Request that the company supply you with written description of the services, products, charity, investment potentials, etc. Reputable company reps will respect you and call you back at your convene time, not theirs. DO NOT speak with telemarketers that deny you this respect or the descriptions you request.

4. If you suspect you have received a "Cold Call" create a witness prior to answer: TELL YOUR, Friends, family, or even your financial manager. YOUR, CHOICE to accept fraudulent cold calls could lead to financial burden for you or someone you love.

5. FREE-When you see this and a telemarketer offer prize promotions request a fee, Click the OFF button on your telephone. Hang up the phone!

6. NEVER submit cash, money orders, checks, traveler checks, etc through "overnight delivery," mail courier, wire, etc to anyone insisting that you pay now.

7. NEVER give out your Social Security Number, credit cards or bank information until you verified the party is reputable and legal.

8. If telemarketers call you prior to 8am or anytime after 9pm, thus likely you are dealing with a fraud. Hang up and contact FTC.

9. Before making a purchase at any company calling you, verify the company is legit with your consumer protections agency, state agency, etc. Check also with these agencies if the company is asking for donations.
